MoxieWORLD is a comprehensive solution for tracking the movement and activity of assets – from overhead cranes, to human assets, MoxieWORLD collects, stores, analyzes and displays this data in both real-time and over trailing periods, with an overhead mapped view of your floor layout. The app shows color traces by speed, hours of usage, direction of movement, etc. MoxieWORLD utilizes a moxieTAG attached to the asset, and a network of moxieANCHORS mounted to existing infrastructure (i.e. columns, walls, ceilings, etc). All activity can be viewed via your secure MoxieWORLD iOS App Portal.
The MoxieWorld tags and anchors use UltraWideBand (UWB) radios to detect position indoors, without GPS. The position is derived using the Time of Arrive (TOA) scheme, which requires anchors to synchronize with carefully eachother. After synchronizing, TOA allows for high numbers of MoxieTAGs and provides accuracy of ~10 cm RMS indoors with stationary anchors spaced approximately every 50 meters along the walls of the industrial facility being monitored. The system is extended beyond simple position tracking for several specialized use cases, including electric motor health monitoring and load estimate for bridge cranes. For tracking forklifts in tight warehouse spaces, a 2D dead-reckoning system was implemented, tightly coupling an IMU with the TDOA ranges, so that positioning could use even a single anchor with line-of-sight to continue tracking the vehicle position.
The MoxieTags generate significant volumes of IoT data that needs to be parsed and queried across weeks and months of machine operation. We found that InfluxDB was a prime candidate as a backend service provider for timeseries database that suited our needs. The MoxieWorld won the InfluxDB “Best Visualization” award in 2021.
